Customs Declarations & Import Charges

When you order from Miss HD and your parcel is shipped internationally, it may go through customs in your country. Below is a bit of transparency about how we declare items and what that can mean for import charges.

Apparel (T-shirts, Hoodies)

U.S. Tariff Rate: Varies depending on material and country of origin
(Usually around 16–17%)

Vinyl Records

U.S. Tariff Rate: 0% (duty-free)

Compact Discs (CDs)

HS Code: 8523.49.90.00
Country of Origin: Varies
U.S. Tariff Rate: 0% (duty-free)

Brokerage & Handling Fees (important!)

Even when an item is duty-free, shipping carriers may still apply brokerage, handling, or customs processing fees as part of delivery to the United States.

A few things to know:

These fees are set and collected by the shipping carrier, not Miss HD.
They are commonly charged by carriers such as UPS or Royal Mail.
Brokerage fees may apply even when no import duty is due.

This is often why customers see charges on items like vinyl records or CDs, despite them being duty-free.

For U.S. customers

Vinyl records and CDs are duty-free, but may still be subject to carrier brokerage or handling fees.

Occasionally, items may be charged incorrectly by the carrier or customs authorities, even when declared correctly. Unfortunately, this is outside of our control.

Apparel items may incur import duties depending on their material and country of origin

Miss HD does not collect duties, tariffs, or brokerage fees. All import charges are determined by the shipping carrier and/or U.S. Customs once a shipment enters the United States, and we’re unable to adjust or waive them.

Refused charges & returned parcels

If customs charges or carrier fees are refused and a parcel is returned to us, we may be unable to issue a full refund.

Any costs incurred due to a refused delivery (such as return shipping or carrier handling fees) will be deducted from any refund issued.

Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us immediately (within 30 days of receiving your item) with any problems with your order or if the item is damaged so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right :)

Pre-ordered and personalised items are unable to be returned unless faulty. Please check our size guides on the individual product pages to help ensure that you choose the correct size. 

Please check your shipping address carefully at checkout as we are unable to issue replacements for items lost due to being sent to the wrong address.

In the event your order is undelivered and returned to us, we will contact you with the option to refund you for the cost of your order (excluding shipping cost) or to purchase re-shipping.

Why are some items listed as made to order? 

MissHD is led by founder Hannah Diamond and her small but dedicated team based in London. We're committed to producing high-quality, unique items while keeping our environmental impact to a minimum. So for now we've decided to produce some of our items on a made-to-order basis, allowing us to create truly special pieces for each customer.

To ensure that we can fulfill your orders in a timely manner and provide a personalised shopping experience, we will be releasing our items in limited runs for the time being. All orders will be carefully packed and shipped by me and my team.

When will my order be available to ship?

If an item is ready to ship, it will be clearly indicated in the product description. 

With made to order items, production lead times are listed in the product description

To minimise your shipping costs and reduce our environmental footprint, if you have ordered multiple items, we will ship your order when all items are available. We appreciate your patience.

How will my items be shipped?

We understand that made to order items take a little longer so we have partnered with DHL to give you a speedy and tracked service. 

How long will shipping take once my items are ready?

UK - Tracked 48 hour delivery via Royal Mail

Europe - 3 to 6 days Tracked DHL global Mail

Germany - 2 to 4 days Tracked DHL global Mail

Rest of the world - 6 to 12 days Tracked global Mail.

Why are some items only Available in one size?

At this time, we are only offering one size for some of our items. This is due to manufacturing minimums and limited drops of up to 100 pieces while our brand is still growing. However, we strive to be as inclusive as possible with sizing and plan to offer a full size range in the near future. As our store grows and our team expands to fulfill more orders, we will gradually add more size options. We understand the importance of providing a full size range to our customers and will do our best to offer it whenever possible, considering manufacturing minimums.

Each item will come with care instructions to help you maintain its pristine condition and ensure longevity in your collection. With these tips, you can keep your pieces looking and feeling their best for years to come.
